 Job - Local Internship opportunity for Health and Nutrition Programme (UNICEF)

Local Internship Opportunity at the UNICEF Azerbaijan office.

 

Health and Nutrition Programme

 

UNICEF is currently looking for an intern to support the health and nutrition programme, specifically ongoing activities on child and maternal health and nutrition. This is a great experience for university students and graduates to get engaged with field experience and practical skills in planning and implementation of activities in public health, research and data analysis, and more specifically maternal and child health and nutrition.

 

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and documenting activities and events of health and nutrition programme, missions of international consultants;
  • Search for information, epidemiological data and evidence, global documents, recommendations, best practices and country experiences; 
  • Prepare briefs and fact-sheets on relevant topics when necessary; 
  • Verify data for UNICEF fact-sheets, reports and other documents;
  • Assist in routine document exchange and correspondence with partners, file documents and developed materials;
  • Identify and report on identified good practices, challenges and lessons learned to the relevant UNICEF staff.

 

Modality: Paid, full-time

 

Tentative start date: early (2nd) March 2020

 

Duration: 3 months. The intern will provide support to the Health and Nutrition team for minimum 30 hours per week at the Baku office or remotely as agreed between the recruiting team and the successful candidate. A limited number of local travels within Baku may be required.

 

Reporting to: The intern will be directly supervised by the Health and Nutrition Officer of UNICEF Azerbaijan.

 

Payment terms: The intern will be paid a stipend on a monthly basis based on the actual number of days worked in that respective month and upon submission of a monthly report. The stipend is to be proposed by UNICEF in line with UN rules and regulations.

 

Status: Interns are not entitled to the privileges and immunities accorded by member states to UNICEF’s officials and staff members. There is no expectancy of employment at the end of the internship.

 

Insurance: UNICEF accepts no responsibility for the medical insurance of the intern or costs arising from accidents and illness incurred during the internship, including while on duty travel. Interns have to demonstrate a proof of medical insurance prior to the beginning of the internship.

 

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

 

  • Have graduated within the past three years in the area of medicine, public health, data or social sciences or any other relevant field;
  • Have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records;

 

    • Have no immediate relatives (e.g. father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office;

 

  • Excellent English communication, writing and analytical skills;

 

  • Excellent Azerbaijani communication, writing and analytical skills;
  • Ability to work in a team with tight deadlines and managing multiple tasks;
  • Good IT skills;
  • Ability to work with statistical worksheets, data bases is an asset;
  • Any previous experience in project administration and data collection is an asset.
