The American Bar Association Central European and Eurasian Law Initiative would
like to announce the following job opening:
Title: Staff Attorney - Legal Advocacy Center
Position: Full-time position (Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.); occasional
weekend work required.
Start Date: Late January, 2006
Job Description: The Legal Advocacy Center Staff Attorney is responsible
for development and oversight of the Legal Advocacy Center, which provides free
legal aid to the general public. The Staff Attorney will oversee management
of the center, which will be staffed by 15 legal fellows and 2 senior attorneys.
The Staff Attorney will work closely with American ABA staff to develop training
modules for the center's legal fellows; oversee and assist in the development
of litigation; develop and conduct outreach for the program; develop management
procedures and oversee management of the Center; and provide translation and
interpretation for American staff as needed.
The Legal Advocacy Center Staff Attorney reports directly to the Legal Advocacy
Center Liaison (American staff). S/he works under the supervision of Liaison
to support the implementation of Legal Advocacy Center.
· Advanced Degree in Law
· Fluency in English, Azeri and Russian.
· At least one year work experience in an international organization
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Excellent computer skills including Word and Outlook.
· Previous program management experience
· Work experience in legal field
