LINKS The London Information Network on Conflicts and State-Building was set up in 1997 as an independent, non-governmental and not-for profit organization registered in England as a limited liability company.

LINKS objectives are:

  1. To promote the peaceful resolution of conflicts between states and within states;
  2. To support the process of state-building in the newly independent countries and in post conflict societies through engagement with institutions such as parliaments, local authorities and think tanks;
  3. To support and work with civil society, especially NGOs and mass media, particularly in those parts of the world where such institutions are still developing and to assist in building up their capacity;
  4. To promote human rights and the rights of the national minorities and help develop good inter-community relations;
  5. To support increased awareness of environmental issues and the implementation of sustainable development;
  6. To disseminate information on the above issues to legislators, opinion makers and other interested parties.

LINKS head office is in London. It is a slim operation which co-ordinates and supports projects and operations in the field. LINKS believes in the maximum involvement of local people in all its operations, both in the planning and execution, as well as in the decision making process.
