USAIDs School Economics Education Program to Host Lead Teacher Conference

November 30 - December 1, 2007 9:15 a.m. at Hyatt Hotel Azerbaijan With the support of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Project Harmony and Junior Achievement Azerbaijan will host a Lead Teacher Conference as a part of the School Economic Education (SEE) program. The two-day activity will include sessions on business and economics education, development of partnerships between schools in Azerbaijan and the United States, implementation of Junior Achievement economic education initiatives in schools and communities, student career guidance, and use of IT in education. More than 100 applied economics teachers from 26 regions will participate in the event, as well as guest-speakers from Azerbaijan Republic Ministry of Education, US Embassy in Azerbaijan, and international business and academic community are expected.

The Lead Teacher Conference is a part of the School Economic Education (SEE) program funded by the Untied States Agency for International Development (USAID) and private donors, and implemented by Project Harmony and Junior Achievement Azerbaijan since 2003.

Established in 1998, Junior Achievement Azerbaijan is the local representative of Junior Achievement Worldwide, a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to educate and inspire young people to value free enterprise, business and economics to improve the quality of their lives, by creating a successful bridge between education and business. Since 2000, JA Azerbaijan trained over 94,000 students and 380 teachers from 230 schools in 26 regions across Azerbaijan.
