STAFF MEMBERS OF US EMBASSY IN AZERBAIJAN, YOUNG LAWYERS
AND OMBUDSMAN HAVE BEEN IN A TWO DAYS BUSINESS TRIP IN SHEKI.
Within the "Legal Consulting and Enlightenment in Regions" project
of Azerbaijan Young Lawyers Union (AYLU) implemented with financial support
of US Embassy, NGO Development Coordinator of the US Embassy Mr. Tim Hayes,
Political Officer of the US Embassy Ms. Mary Glantz, Chairman of AYLU Mr. Nadir
Adilov, Azerbaijan Republic Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) Ms. Elmira
Suleymanova, Head of the Azerbaijan Republic Human Rights Commissioner Apparatus
Mr. Rahim Rahimov, member of the Azerbaijan Republic Bar Ms. Rena Houseynova
have been in a two days business trip in Sheki. The main idea of the trip was
to support the enhancing effectiveness of free legal support and advises for
population within the project. Azerbaijan Republic Human Rights Commissioner
Ms. Elmira Suleymanova when being in Sheki met with citizens whose rights were
violated and gave them certain advises. It is important to notice that after
Ms. Elmira Suleymanova received complaints, together with persons complaining
of the regional executive structures, she visited executive power of Sheki for
resolving their problems.
On the meeting majority of complaints were about the delay in courts and non
execution of the court decisions.
We also want to mention that representatives of the US Embassy observed this
process and highly appreciated the free visit of Ombudsman to Shaki within the
project of AYLU.
