ICRC conducts training seminars for Internal troops and Police
officers
Baku (ICRC) - Two five-day seminars for 15 officers of Internal troops and
15 officers of National police forces, organized by the Delegation of the International
Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Azerbaijan in cooperation with the Ministry
of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan, opens today 27th October 2003 in Baku.
The ICRC expects that this event will give a good opportunity for the Internal
troops and Police officers from education, training and operational departments
to develop their knowledge of the rules and principles of International Humanitarian
Law and International Human Rights Law as well as the ICRC and its activities.
The seminars, run by ICRC armed and police forces experts, also deal with such
topics as conduct of hostilities, commander's responsibility, law enforcement,
maintaining public order, and vulnerable groups in society, with particular
emphasis on women and juveniles.
In accordance with its mandate, all over the world the ICRC works to ensure
that armed and security forces receive systematic training in humanitarian law
and human rights.
