Position: Protection Field Officer
Location: ICRC Office in Baku

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect and assist victims of war and internal violence.

One of the major activities implemented by the ICRC in Azerbaijan in the recent years was the collection of Detailed Data (DDC) on the persons who went missing in relation to the Nagorny Karabagh conflict, in cooperation with Azerbaijani Red Crescent Society.

The Delegation of the ICRC in Azerbaijan is seeking 3 candidates to fill the position of Protection Field Officer with 100% occupation rate. Under the direct supervision of the Protection Coordinator, the Officer's main tasks will be to:

" check DDC information in Azerbaijani and Russian languages for discrepancies/inaccuracies, both in contents and in translation (quality control);
" provide regular oral and written feedback on the problems encountered, and make suggestions so as to improve the quality of the DDC information;
" according to a profile and upon request, to carry out other tasks such as: writing minutes of the meetings (in English); interpreting during meetings and trainings; making field trips to the regions; receiving Families of missing and referring them to relevant instances; making researches on various issues of interest for the ICRC (humanitarian environment, legal research), etc.

Specific qualifications for this position include the following:

" University education (a diploma in Political Sciences, International Relations, Public Administration or even preferably in Law would be an asset);
" Fluency in spoken and written English, Azerbaijani and Russian - should be close or equal to a professional translator;
" Objective, trustworthy and open (he/she is able to provide honest and diplomatic feedback to others on their work) with excellent communication skills;
" Meticulous, excellent time management;
" Analytical skills, including the ability to summarize and write reports;
" Good computer knowledge.
